당신의 이름과 주소를 서울에 있는 한국 국제친선협회에서 소개받았습니다.
저는 오랫동안 미국에 있는 펜팔을 원했었는데
이렇게 당신에게 편지를 쓰게 되어 매우 기쁩니다.
먼저 제 소개를 간단히 하겠습니다.
저는 15세의 한국 소녀입니다.
성명은 김혜정인데 김은 성이고 혜정이 이름입니다.
당신들과는 반대로 성을 이름 앞에 쓰는 것이 우리들 관습입니다.
따라서 앞으로는 저를 혜정이라 불러주세요.
저는 지금 중학교 3학년 학생입니다.
학교에서는 국어, 영어, 수학, 사회, 과학, 체육, 미술 등을 배웁니다.
우리가족은 다섯 명입니다.
즉 아버지, 어머니, 언니, 남동생 그리고 나 자신이지요.
아버지는 공무원이시고, 어머니는 단순한 가정주부입니다.
언니는 고등학생이고 남동생은 국민학교에 다니지요.
제 취미는 편지 쓰기, 독서, 우표수집, 음악감상 그리고 운동경기를 구경하는 것입니다.

I got your name and address from the Korea International Friendship Society in Seoul.
I have long wanted to find a pen pal from America,
so I am very happy to write you now.
First, I would like to tell you about myself.
My name is Kim Hye-jeong and I am a 15 years old.
Kim is my family name and Hye-jeong is my first name.
Therefore, please call me Hye-jeong.
I am now in the third grade (9th grade) of junior high school.
We learn Korean, English, Mathematics,
Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, Fine Arts and Music at school.
There are five members in my family.
They are my father, mother, sister, brother and me.
My father works for the Government and my mother is a house-wife.
My sister is a student of a senior high school and my brother goes to primary school.
My hobbies are writing letters, collecting stamps,
listening to music and watching sports.
