[Being Killed in action around 2:00 PM on May 14, 1953, in the Battle of Geum-hwa District: Iron Triangle (Cheol-won/Geum-hwa/Pyeong-gang)]

• Merit Details: The late Warrant Officer Gyeong-O, Son served as a member of the 1st National Defense Guard after liberation. Following the outbreak of the Korean War, he stood at the forefront more than anyone else in numerous battles, including the Battle of the Iron Triangle (Cheorwon, Geumhwa, Pyeonggang), achieving remarkable military feats. He was killed in action during the Battle of Geumhwa District around 2:00 PM on May 14, 1953, amidst fierce combat with enemy forces. (Notice of Death: Posthumous Promotion of 2 Ranks)

• It was truly a grueling battle to turn the tide of time. I extend my deep gratitude to the officials of the Ministry of National Defense and the National Cemetery who struggled tirelessly to find relevant materials.

• 유공 내역: 고 손경오 준위는 해방 후 국방 경비대 1기로 한국 전쟁 발발 후 철의 삼각지(철원, 금화, 평강) 전투 등 다수의 전투에서 그 누구보다 선봉에 나서 혁혁한 전공을 세웠으며, 1953년 5월 14일 오후 2시경 적군과 치열한 교전 중 금화지구 전투에서 작렬이 산화 함. (전사통지서:2계급 특진)

In my old photos which was faded and torn hometown album,

there are hardly any people who are still alive. That is why I hate looking at it.

Why did my grandfather tear up the last two remaining photos of his eldest son like this? Pain? Pain? Pain? Was his pain that great?

할아버지는 왜 2개 남은 장남의 마지막 사진을 이리 찢여버렸을까요?

The photo at the very bottom is the eldest grandson of our family, my uncle's grandson (called 'jilson' in Korean), and my nephew. He has grown up to be an excellent, capable, and dignified man.

제일 아래에 있는 사진은 우리 집 장손이며, 백부님의 손자(질손)이며, 제 조카입니다. 아주 훌륭하게 성장했습니다.
