1. [쌀 뒤주]

→ 조선시대에 쌀가마를 보관했던 곳.

할아버지 흔적이 곳곳에서 보이네요.

자세히 살펴보니 주춧돌이 끝내줍니다.

고목은 썩어도 주춧돌은 흔들림이 없네요.

당시 지붕은 볏짚이었습니다.

1. [Rice Storage Chest]

→ This is a place where sacks of rice were stored during the Joseon Dynasty. 

Traces of my grandfather are visible everywhere. Looking closely, the foundation stones are amazing. Even though the old trees have rotted, the foundation stones do not wobble. Back then, It is said that the roof was made of rice straw.

2. [황토 일구기]

이거 해 보셨나요?

이곳에 물을 붓고,

(30분~1시간) 가량,

제자리 걷기, 발 마사지하면,

찐득 찐득

천연 황토가 되어 고택 곳곳을 수리할 재료가 됩니다.

내일 할 일입니다.

오늘은 힘들어서.

볏짚이 많아 보이지만

경험상 물 들어가면 부족합니다.

볏짚을 넣는 이유는 ..

황토가 갈라지는 것을 방지하고, 

통기성을 높이기 위한 선조들의 지혜입니다.

2. [Making sticky clay]

Have you ever tried this?

Pour water here and then step on it for about 30 minutes to an hour.

If you repeat walking in place as if giving yourself a foot massage, the clay turns into sticky, natural yellow clay that becomes the material for repairing various parts of the traditional house.

I'm so tired today, so I'm scheduled to work on it tomorrow. There appears to be a lot of rice straw, but in my experience, it becomes insufficient once water is added. The reason for adding rice straw is the wisdom of our ancestors to prevent the yellow clay from cracking and to improve its aeration.

 

3. 이 처럼 전통 방식의 고택 수리용 황토가 완성되었습니다. 

예상했던대로 볏짚이 부족합니다. 

가운데에 물을 채워두는 이유는 황토가 말라붙지 말라는 의미이며,

필요시마다 조금씩 떼어 사용하면 됩니다.

3. The traditional red clay for repairing old houses is completed like this.

As expected, there is a shortage of rice straw.

The reason for filling the center with water is to prevent the red clay from drying out, and you can simply break off small amounts as needed and use.
