학창 시절에 이 간단한 문구를 맹목적으로 외우려고 했던 기억이 납니다. 외워지지 않아 하루에 100번씩 15일쯤 반복했던 것 같습니다. 그 덕분인지 40년이 지난 지금도 생생하게 머리가 아닌 입으로 남아 있습니다.
(I remember trying to memorize this sentence blindly back in my school days. Since I couldn't memorize it, I think I repeated it 100 times a day for about 15 days. Perhaps thanks to that, even now, 40 years later, it remains vividly in my mouth rather than in my head.)
* remember(forget) to~: (미래: ~해야 할 것을 기억하다. (잊어버리다)
* remember(forget) ~ing: (과거: ~했던 것을 기억하다. (잊어버리다.)
1. 영어는 듣기를 잘 해야 합니다. 듣지 못하면 반쪽 영어입니다.(You must be good at listening in English. If you cannot listen, it is only half English.)
2. 영어는 머리가 아닌 입에서 자연스럽게 나와야 합니다. 그러기 위해서 항상 입으로 말하는 연습을 해야 합니다.(English should come naturally from your mouth, not your head. To achieve this, you must always practice speaking out loud.)
3. 영어 문화권에서는 일상생활을 통해 자연스럽게 어휘와 듣기가 가능하지만, 비영어 문화권에서는 환경 자체가 다르게 때문에 지속적인 어휘, 숙어 암기와, 반복적인 듣기, 말하기 연습이 필수입니다.(In English-speaking cultures, vocabulary and listening skills can be acquired naturally through daily life, but in non-English-speaking cultures, the environment is fundamentally different, making continuous memorization of vocabulary and idioms, along with repetitive listening and speaking practice, essential.)
4. 특히 어휘력. 아무리 좋은 총을 가졌어도 총알이 없으면 의미 없는 총이듯, 비영어 문화권에서 어휘, 숙어를 모르면 독해와 듣기를 할 수가 없습니다.(Especially Vocabulary, Just as a gun is useless without bullets no matter how good it is, in non-English speaking cultures, you cannot read or listen without knowing vocabulary and idioms.)
5. 어휘, 숙어 많이 암기하시고, 듣기를 계속해서 반복하시기 바랍니다.(Please memorize a lot of vocabulary and idioms, and keep on repeating the listening practice.)
