[beat]라는 단어는 [박자, 장단, 치다, 때리다, 이기다, 능가하다, 더 낫다...등등] 뜻이 무척 많습니다. 
어떤 주제에 대해 개인의 주관적인 생각을 [~이 최고야]라고 말하고 싶을 때 주로 사용되는 표현입니다. 하지만 여기에선 [defeat: ~을 이기다, do better than: ~을 능가하다]란 의미를 수동형으로 바꿔서 표현한 것 뿐이니 이해가 안가시면 복잡하게 생각하지 마시고, 그냥 암기하세요^^
