건물의 난방장치 변화는 질병의 원인이 될 수 있다고 한다. 1970년대에는 전 세계적으로 난방용 기름의 부족현상이 있었다. 이런 이유로 미국의 유명한 호텔들은 연료를 아끼기 위하여 난방장치의 온도를 낮추었다고 한다. 난방 파이프에서 성장하는 치명적인 세균에게는 이 낮은 온도가 아주 완벽한 것이었다. 따라서 호텔의 각 방으로 데워진 공기가 흘러 갔을때 그 공기는 병균을 함께 옮겼다. 그로인해 많은 방문객들이 병이 났고 여러명이 죽었다.
It is said that changes in heating systems of buildings can lead to disease. In the 1970's, There was a worldwide shortage phenomena of heating oil. for this reason, hotels in the Unites states are said to have lowered the temperature in their heating systems in order to save fuel. However, This lower temperature was a perfect environment for a deadly germ which grows in heating pipes. Therefore, when the heated air flew into each room of a hotel, the heated air carried the germs with it. that's why many visitors became ill and several died.
