drucker suggests that another such transformation is taking place today. He claims (that) it began around 1960  with the introduction of computers and the emergence of the first non-Western countryㅡJapanㅡ to be a global economic power. The period is predicted to end sometime/ around 2010 or 2020,  when what Drucker calls the "post-capitalist" era will have produced the knowledge society. The major characteristic of this new society will be the use of knowledge as an economic resource. That is, knowledge, not labor, will be the basis of wealth.. The leading social group will be "knowledge workers" who know how to make specialized knowledge productive and innovative in a free-market system. Drucker warns that this situation may create class conflict, as knowledge workers accrue much higher status and income than service workers.
 

Drucker는 또다른 변혁이 오늘날 일어나고 있다고 제안한다.  그는 그것(또다른 변역)이 1960년 경에 컴퓨터의 도입( the introduction of computers)과 세계 경제열강이 된( be a global economic power) 비서구 국가(일본)의 출현(the emergence of the first non-Western country)과 더불어 시작되었다고 주장한다. 이 시기는 2010년 또는 2020년경 어느 시기에 끝날 것으로 기대되는데( is predicted to end ), 그때는 Drucker가 '후기 자본주의자' 시대라고 부르는 것(what Drucker calls the "post-capitalist" era)이 지식사회를 만들어 낼것이다.  이러한 새로운 사회(지식사회)의 주된 특징은 경제적 자원으로 지식을 사용하는 것이다. 다시 말하면, 노동이 아니라 지식이 부의 토대가 될 것이다. 선도적인 사회집단은 자유시장 경제 체계에서 전문적인 지식( specialized knowledge )을 생산적이고 혁신적(productive and innovative )으로 만드는 방법을 아는 '지식노동자'들이 될것이다. Drucker는 지식노동자들이 서비스업에 종사하는 노동자들 보다 훨씬 높은 지위와 많은 수입을 축적하기 때문에 이러한 상황이 계급투쟁을 일을킬수 있다고 주장한다.
